Fight For Children is an independent non-profit organization that recognizes,
promotes, and cultivates quality education for low-income children in Washington,
DC. Fight For Children also addresses the critical link between good health and
improved academic performance. Our purpose reflects the goals of the organization's
founder, Joseph E. Robert Jr., Chairman and CEO of J.E. Robert Companies: to ensure
that all children have the chance to become tomorrow's leaders.
Fight For Children's unique approach to the challenges facing low-income youth in
DC uses fact based research and collaborative partnerships to implement programmatic
initiatives that create effective change. In addition, we make strategic grants
to organizations that provide education and healthcare services to the youth of
DC. With proven measurable results, the organizations supported by Fight For Children
make a difference in the lives of children every day by expanding access to quality
education, improving student achievement, and keeping kids healthy so they learn.
Over the years, we have raised more than $82 million through private contributions,
corporate sponsorships, and two highly acclaimed fundraising events, Fight Night
and School Night. One of the most eagerly anticipated events in Washington, DC,
Fight Night brings together the heavyweights of business and government, entertainment
and community service, as well as legends from the boxing world, for an evening
of fun, auctions, and even professional boxing. School Night draws together community
leaders and celebrities to recognize schools that are improving academic achievement
among low-income students.
Thanks to the financial support of civic-minded, results-oriented individuals and
businesses, we have been able to invest in more than 150 organizations that serve
children and youth. Not only do these organizations share our vision, but they also
deliver measurable results in their fight for the low-income children of Washington,
a
fight we are committed to winning.
